A banking giant is hard at work rapidly expanding their Jersey City footprint as Bank of America is looking to complete their new office digs in the city’s Newport section by the end of the year.

Construction is already underway at Bank of America’s future home within Newport Tower at 525 Washington Boulevard. The company already had a presence at the property but is taking over an additional 548,000 square feet of space that could open as soon as this summer.

The lease deal for the space, which runs for 15 years, was struck in late 2023. The expansion will span 17 floors of the property, which is situated about two blocks from the Hudson River and across the street from the Newport PATH Station.

A recent note shared with employees of Bank of America provided an update on the work, explaining that construction crews are currently working on the new amenities coming to the facility and upper floor areas. The full completion of the project is expected to wrap up work before the end of 2026.

The Newport Tower itself recently underwent some capital improvements of its own, including a brand-new 5,400-square-foot enclosed tenant lounge and conference center with breakout and co-working spaces, a game room, and state-of-the-art meeting rooms.

The property is connected by a skybridge to the Newport Centre Mall and features its own ground-floor retail tenants, including Chipotle, Just Salad, Chinah, Meet Fresh, Gregory’s Coffee, and a Kura Revolving Sushi Bar outpost.
