Manhattan Goodwill scammed out of more than $1,000, police say

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – A Manhattan second-hand store was scammed out of more than $1,000, officials said Wednesday morning.

The theft was reported around 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Goodwill store at 421 E. Poyntz Ave. in Manhattan.

Riley County police officers filed a report of fraud in the case.

Officials said Goodwill was listed as the victim when it was reported that an unknown person scammed an employee into using store funds to pay for a fraudulent business debt.

Riley County police said the total estimated loss associated with this case is $1,191.80.
