The New York Giants‘ roster is expected to get “reworked” this offseason as new head coach John Harbaugh enters his first season as the franchise’s head coach.

Harbaugh is expected to move on from players who don’t “love” football.

“The Giants have some solid players, beginning with quarterback Jaxson Dart,” wrote ESPN’s Jordan Raanan last month. “It’s partly why Harbaugh took the job this offseason. But this roster is about to get reworked to Harbaugh’s liking. He has already made it known that anybody who doesn’t love football will not be part of the team. Adding a fullback, becoming more physical, and building the defense from the back end will all be part of this offseason. Also, finding more playmakers for Dart and the offense.”

NFL insider says to keep an eye on the Giants for WR Mike Evans

The Giants need to add to their wide receiver room this offseason — especially if Wan’Dale Robinson leaves in free agency.

A wide receiver who “loves football” that could make sense for the Giants is future Hall of Famer Mike Evans, who is expected to hit free agency after spending the first 12 seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, in fact, named the Giants this week as a team to “keep an eye” on for Evans.

“It is still early, but Houston and Kansas City don’t seem to be in on Evans, according to sources,” wrote Jones. “If Evans does not return to Tampa Bay, keep an eye on the Bills, Chargers, 49ers, Commanders and Giants. His price is going to be difficult to gauge, though. He will be 33 this season coming off an injured year, and there aren’t many comparisons to him out there. Evans may aim for something close to $25 million per year in what would amount to a two-year deal, but sources believe he will get something closer to $20 million per year.”

Evans, a former Texas A&M Aggies standout who will turn 33 in August, has been a remarkably consistent player since entering the NFL over a decade ago.

The Texas native finished with at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first 11 seasons in the league. Evans came up short of that milestone in 2025 after missing nine games due to various injuries.

Evans would be a great fit for the Giants — specifically because of the veteran leadership he would provide as the team enters a new era.

But it’s unclear if the Giants meet the criteria that Evans is looking for in his next team.

“Mike Evans will limit his choices to a handful of teams in part because of his criteria,” wrote ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler earlier this week. “He wants a quarterback he believes in, a chance at a Super Bowl, a top-shelf offensive coordinator and the promise of high-volume touches. Only so many teams fit that mold.”

Evans should have plenty of suitors. We’ll see next week if the Giants have real interest in the future Hall of Fame wide receiver.
