Having your pet microchipped is a simple solution that can make all the difference if they ever go missing. That’s why a pet microchipping event for pet owners is being held this weekend.
A local animal rescue is teaming up with a local car dealership to help ensure that pets are returned home quickly if they are ever lost.
Michael Avery, relationship coordinator for GRASP Animal Rescue, says a dog named Presley is a perfect example of why this is so important. He was picked up as a stray by animal control. He says if Presley had been microchipped, he could’ve been returned to his family right away.

Instead, Avery says Presley will be up for adoption at the free microchipping event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Garber Subaru on Ridge Road in Webster. Pet owners can bring their dogs or cats, but they’ll need to pre-register online.
Avery says GRASP is able to provide these microchips free of charge thanks to a grant from Garber.
Microchipping is one of the fastest ways to reunite pets with their owners. When an animal is found, shelters and vets can scan the chip and contact the family the very same day, Avery says.
