Carnegie Mellon University, out of Pittsburgh, recently published a study showing that New York state is projected to lose two congressional seats in the next U.S. census.

The state currently has 26 Congressional seats, which is far fewer than the 45 New York had post World War II.

But Bronx Assemblyman Landon Dais has introduced a bill with state Sen. Jeremy Cooney (A5864/S6898) to get the word out early about the 2030 census. It would create a New York State Office of the Census to ensure civic engagement prior to the actual counting of residents.

Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter discussed both Dais’s bill on the census as well as his bill to move New York’s Presidential Primary to Super Tuesday.
