QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man was charged with the killing of a 75-year-old in Astoria, Queens, District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Wednesday.
Deimitrios Manessis, 48, allegedly ambushed and stabbed the victim, George Dourdananas, right outside his apartment, according to court documents.
The defendant was standing outside of his own apartment at 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday when the victim entered the building. Manessis allegedly punched the victim, knocking him down to the floor, and stabbed him repeatedly to death, police said.
A witness who entered the building during the incident called 9-1-1, and the NYPD later apprehended Manessis, the D.A. said.
Manessis is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
If convicted, he may face 25 years to life in prison.
