BOROUGHWIDE — FIVE OUT OF THE 10 WORST SPEEDERS in all of New York state in 2025 — as measured by drivers with the greatest number of speed camera tickets — were issued the majority of those tickets in Brooklyn, according to data from Transportation Alternatives and Families for Safe Streets. These “worst of the worst” speeders all received hundreds of tickets plowing mainly through Brooklyn intersections.
The No. 1 so-called “super speeder,” the driver of a black 2023 Audi A6, received 259 school zone speed camera tickets in 2025, 100% of them in Brooklyn, many in Gravesend. The number-two speeder racked up 229 violations in 2025, 86% of them in Brooklyn, and the third-worst was ticketed 188 times in 2025, 98% of the time in Brooklyn. Two more who made the top 10 list committed most of their violations in Brooklyn, with the remaining five habitual speeders careening through intersections in Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island.
Ben Furnas, executive director of TA, called for Albany to act on a bill sponsored by state Sen. Andrew Gounardes called the “Stop Super Speeders Act,” which would mandate speed limiters in the vehicles of serial speeders.
