For a fun and chill night out, Murphy’s Bar is the place to be! Watch all your favorite sports, sip on great cocktails, dozens of brands of beers, and enjoy the good food, all in the neighborhood. March is especially festive at Murphy’s when everyone is Irish and out for a good time. Happy Hour runs Monday to Friday from 12-6pm with $6 drafts, well drinks and $11 burger and beer specials. Murphy’s has weekend brunch and lots of events, so follow them on Instagram and don’t miss out.
My friend and I settled into one of the high-top tables and were greeted by friendly barmen, Fernando and Dylan. Owner Rory Murphy opened his eponymous bar in September 2023 in what was formerly a garage. The long bar, barrel tables and stools allow for friends to gather and maybe shoot some darts. They poured a Kona Big Wave draft beer and mixed up a margarita for us while we checked out the menu.
Murphy’s Bar has 16 taps from breweries near and far such as Singlecut, Lagunitas, Murphy’s Red Ale, Guinness, Downeaster Cider, Angry Orchard, and Montauk IPA. There’s Prosecco on tap and creative cocktails such as Murph’s Mule, Negroni, The People’s Margarita, caipirinha, Fitz’s Old Fashioned, and espresso martinis. Murphy’s Bar is your one stop shop for all things sports and fun. Murphy’s is proud to be home of The Mets with watch parties for all their games, as well as the Knicks, Islanders, Rangers, and March Madness NCAA College Basketball, so don’t miss out on the fun.
Come hungry because Murphy’s Lead Off menu has meaty chicken wings which are some of the best in town with a nice choice of sauces: sweet chili, BBQ, curry honey, and teriyaki, Jamaican jerk, and garlic Parmesan ($14 ). Boneless popcorn chicken is fun to share with your choice of sauces. We had our wings with a dry rub of spices that was just right. Crispy Brussels sprouts with lemon tahini are great to share along with a quesadilla loaded with three cheeses and your choice of beef or chicken, drizzled with chipotle cream. Beef sliders make the perfect snack, topped with caramelized onions, Muenster cheese and gravy on a pretzel bun ($14). Nachos are loaded with ground beef or chicken, cheese sauce, pico de gallo, and chipotle cream ideal for sharing. My fish tacos were crunchy and fresh, topped with slaw and pickled red onion, served three to an order.
Still hungry? Grand Slam mains at Mur- phy’s include a pulled barbecued pork sandwich with red onions and pickles ($17). Try the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with the cheese sauce or the NY style cheesesteak with gravy, onions, and mozzarella. The chicken sandwich is topped with crispy Irish bacon, cheddar, and cole slaw, while the chopped chicken wrap is rolled with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and balsamic dressing. My friend loved the Murphy’s “Smash” burger with two patties, thick cut bacon, cheddar, and pickles on a soft, delicious bun, served with their fabulous hand cut French fries. A warm corned beef sandwich is piled high topped with sauerkraut, melted Muenster cheese and mustard on toasted rye bread. These hearty sandwiches make a great lunch, dinner, or late night crave. You can’t beat the lunch specials with a sandwich and a beer for just $11-$12.
Murphy’s Bar serves a relaxing Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm with great options such as the breakfast burrito filled with chorizo, egg, cheese, potatoes, peppers and onions. Chicken and waffles with crispy wings will cure what ails you. A classic Irish breakfast of rashers, bangers, eggs, tomato, and black pudding will keep you going while you watch your favorite games on the screen. Pair brunch with bottomless Bloody Mary’s or Mimosas for $25 for two hours.
Murphy’s Bar is the place to be with 16 taps, great cocktails, delicious food and sports all with a relaxed, “feel good” vibe. I’ll see you at Murphy’s Bar!
