#13 NC State (12–1) pulled away in the final innings yesterday, defeating Queens 9–2 in Raleigh.
The game was tied 1–1 through five innings before the Wolfpack broke through in the bottom of the sixth. Ty Head scored on a sacrifice fly to give NC State a 2–1 lead.
From there, the Pack’s offense erupted.
NC State scored four runs in the seventh inning and three more in the eighth to put the game away.

In the seventh inning, NC State created separation with two big swings:
Sophomore SS Mikey Ryan hit a two-run home run
Junior 1B Chris McHugh followed with a two-run triple
The Wolfpack added insurance in the eighth inning:

Strong Pitching Performance
Freshman Luke Hemric made his second start of the season, allowing one run over three innings while striking out two.
Through three appearances, Hemric now owns a 0.96 ERA.

The South Carolina transfer has been outstanding early in the season, pitching 8.1 scoreless innings across four appearances while striking out 12 batters.

With the win, NC State has now won seven straight games.
The Wolfpack will host Lafayette this weekend in Raleigh, with the series opener scheduled for Friday at 3:00 PM.
