Plans for NYC Ice Cream Shop, Oddfellows, to Open in Hoboken

If you ever dreamed of having your ice cream taste like Miso Cherry, Chorizo-Salted Caramel, or even a spicy Jalapeño Cheddar, an ice cream shop coming to Hoboken could satisfy those cravings. The NYC-based viral ice cream shop, Oddfellows Ice Cream Co., is making its way to New Jersey. The ice cream shop is slated to take over 53 First Street in Hoboken and is known for its over-the-top sweet and savory flavors. Here’s what we know about an Oddfellows Ice Cream shop coming to Hoboken. 

About Oddfellows 

Oddfellows opened its first location back in 2013 in Brooklyn. It came to be after the owner, Mohan Kumar, was trying to satisfy his wife’s pregnancy cravings for a savory ice cream. He reached out to his friend, acclaimed pastry chef Sam Mason, who whipped up quarts of pretzel ice cream. Mohan’s wife, Holiday, loved it so much that the three of them decided to start their ice cream business.

Since it first opened its doors in 2013, the Oddfellows team has concocted over 500 unique and sometimes weird flavors alongside trusted classics like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Some of those weird flavors include Mushroom Maitake Peanut, Chorizo-Salted Caramel, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The shop even went viral in 2025 for creating a Breast Milk ice cream flavor. 

These insane ice cream flavors have gone international. There are currently nine Oddfellows locations, spanning from New York to Pittsburgh to Tampa to even South Korea.

The Planned Hoboken Location 

While the Hoboken location isn’t listed on the Oddfellows website yet, plans for the ice cream shop were confirmed during a March 2nd Hoboken Historic Preservation Commission meeting. It would be the first New Jersey location for the ice cream company. A source close to the project confirmed with HG that Oddfellows received approval to take over 53 First Street from the Historic Preservation Commission. No opening date has been announced yet. HG reached out to Oddfellows to learn more about the Hoboken location and will update this piece when we hear back.
