Former activist and City Councilmember Ronnie Eldridge died Thursday, according to Manhattan officials.

Eldridge was a public figure in New York City for decades.

She worked in the administrations of Mayor John Lindsay and Gov. Mario Cuomo, and served as a city councilwoman representing the Upper West Side from 1989 to 2001. Before that, she also ran for Manhattan borough president in 1977.

In recent years, Eldridge hosted a weekly television show called “Keeping Relevant” on CUNY TV.
