FORDHAM, The Bronx (WABC) — An NYPD officer was injured after being struck in the head with an object in the Bronx on Thursday.

The incident happened just before 5:30 p.m. at the Fordham Road subway station in the Fordham section.

Officials say police located a 41-year-old man that was wanted for an assault that happened earlier in the day around noon at East 157th Street and Gerard Avenue.

As officers approached the man, the suspect threw an unidentified object that struck the officer in the head.

The officer was taken to the hospital with a minor laceration.

No arrests have been made.
