Police say the 4-year-old was running down the street when he was struck by a Ford SUV.

Investigators say the unidentified person behind the wheel just kept driving.

“It’s reckless. It’s a child, it’s a minor. Have some consideration. Stop. I mean, you did the crime, do the time,” said Katrina, a Brooklyn resident who was passing by intersection.

“Ridiculous, sad, I hope these cameras caught them because you’re about to go down,” said Shay, another Brooklyn resident.

The child was taken just a few hundred feet away to Brookdale Hospital where he died. Police say the boy’s mother was there when the crash happened.

“For it to be a child, it’s hard. I can’t imagine what the parents are going through right now,” said Shay.

The group Transportation Alternatives says this is the fourth child killed in a traffic collision so far this year.

A spokesperson for the group said, “We must build a New York City that’s safe for children — and that means finally implementing Sammy’s Law to ensure drivers are moving at a safe 20 mph… Every parent should feel safe walking on the street with their child, but they can’t until our streets are safe.”

Sources tell NY1 police are looking for the driver of a white Ford SUV. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
