The New York state Health Department is celebrating 125 years of ensuring public health in New York. Since 1901, the department has tackled diseases including polio, diptheria and COVID-19. Now, it’s tackling a more insidious disease: Misinformation. 

State Health Commissioner Dr. Jim McDonald joined Capital Tonight’s Susan Arbetter on Friday to discuss vaccine hesitancy, the challenges facing rural health care and the state’s ongoing efforts to address child poverty.
