Westmoreland, N.Y. — A tractor-trailer driver from Wayne County was killed in a crash early Thursday on the New York State Thruway.
New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 in Westmoreland, Oneida County around 1:25 a.m.
Police said Robert Wells, 76, of Palmyra was driving a tractor-trailer that rear-ended an empty car carrier hauled by a westbound tractor-trailer. Both vehicles were pushed to the right shoulder after the collision.
Wells was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the other tractor-trailer had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Wynn Hospital in Utica for evaluation.
