Two suspicious devices were found on Saturday outside Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Officers were on scene at the time for a scheduled demonstration near the residence, the NYPD told The Independent.
They were alerted around midday to the devices and took two “persons of interest” into custody, police said.
“No injuries or property damage have been reported at this time,” a department spokesperson added.
It is unclear if the mayor or first lady were present at the residence at the time of the threat.

Smoke started coming out of one of the devices, and the NYPD bomb squad is investigating, WABC reports.
Photos from the scene appear to show one of the devices, a round object wrapped in metallic tape.
The arrests took place during an anti-Islam protest led by conservative influencer Jake Lang.

At least six people total were arrested amid the demonstration, including one person for disorderly conduct and another for using pepper spray, police sources told ABC News.
Lang previously gained notoriety for taking part in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.
President Trump later pardoned him.
