POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Baseball team (6-6, 1-1 MAAC) dropped the middle game of the three-game set to the Red Foxes of Marist University (1-11, 1-1 MAAC) by a score of 17-5 inside Heritage Financial Park on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Looking to build upon its series-opening victory just hours before, were the Green and White, who have not won back-to-back games to open conference play since 2018, when Manhattan swept the Saint Peter’s Peacocks from Houlihan Park.
With the Jaspers trailing by three runs heading into the visiting half of the second inning, Ryan Lordier blooped a base knock to start the engine for Manhattan.
The Jaspers loaded the bases for Trevor Hansen, who drove in Lordier with a sacrifice fly to tack on their first run of the game.
On the next at-bat, Guriyandel Salva notched a single to drive home Colin Basehore to cut Marist’s lead to just one.
After Marist opened a sizeable lead against Manhattan, the Jaspers were able to obtain a run back in the seventh inning with Hayden Jung-Goldberg notching a base-hit to drive home Hunter Sute from third.
Continuing to keep the pedal to the medal was Dylan Mayer, who launched a lead-off home run on six pitches to post the Jaspers’ fourth run of the day.
Later in the ninth inning, Danny Infante drove home Trevor Hansen on a sacrifice fly to right field to tally the fifth and final run of the afternoon for the Jaspers.
