STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Tottenville family is desperately searching for its young dog, which went missing on Tuesday.
Natalie Kenul, 42, is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Coco, an 11-month-old chocolate Shih Tzu.
Coco was last seen in the vicinity of Craig and Lee avenues in Tottenville on Tuesday morning. The dog was being watched by a friend when she somehow escaped the house, Kenul said.
“My daughters don’t know she’s missing,” Kenul told the Advance/SILive.com. “I told them Coco is at doggy camp because I know how devastating the truth would be. This has been heartbreaking for me, and I’m doing everything I possibly can to bring her home. I have left no stone unturned.”
Despite flyers and search efforts, as of Friday night, Kenul has not had anyone come forth with a confirmed sighting.
Coco responds to her name and is friendly, Kenul said. However, as she could be scared, anyone who spots her should approach gently and not chase, she said.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kenul by calling (917) 831-6446.
“She’s not just our dog, she’s family,” added Kenul. “I won’t rest until she’s back home where she belongs.”
