The Royal Family may be preparing for its biggest event of the year so far later this afternoon. But for shamed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, he appears to be still in hiding in Sandringham since his arrest last month.

The former Duke of York has not been seen since he was snapped slouched in the back of a car being driven away from a Norfolk police station following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office. And in a bid to continue hiding away at his temporary Wood Farm home on the King’s estate – it seems his security have been given the task of taking his dogs for a walk, two of which include corgis that once belonged to his mother, the late Queen.

Pictures showed the two pets, Sandy and Muick, being walked close to Wood Farm by two staff members, with the ex-prince nowhere to be seen. The dogs were taken in by Mountbatten-Windsor and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson to live in their former Windsor mansion of Royal Lodge following the death of Andrew’s late mother in 2022.

After Andrew was stripped of all of his royal titles and forced to give up his Royal Lodge home, Buckingham Palace cryptically said the dogs would “remain within the family” – and are seemingly living with Andrew at his new home. It means that Fergie, who often posted about the dogs on her Instagram account, is without the pets as she continues her search for a new home after not moving to the King’s private estate with her former husband.

The former Duchess of York even talked about the pets, who captured the heart of the nation at the late Queen’s funeral, during an appearance on This Morning and revealed how they missed the former monarch.

The royals marking Commonwealth Day today comes just weeks after the former prince’s arrest following allegations he passed on confidential information to Epstein while he was UK trade envoy.

Mountbatten-Windsor is said to be growing “increasingly anxious” that he will not be able to pay his legal fees after the King told him he must meet the costs himself, royal sources have revealed. A royal source said: “The financial burden on him, having to attend interviews and take the relevant advice are a huge concern for him and one which he is growing increasingly anxious about. The King has made clear that Andrew is now a private citizen and must meet the relevant costs on his own.”

Commonwealth Day also takes place as a new photograph that appears to show Mountbatten-Windsor with a victim of Jeffrey Epstein on his lap has been released by the United States Department of Justice.

The image shows a man wearing a blue shirt and a grey hooded jacket with his arms around a blonde female, whose age is unknown, sitting on his lap. The man, who is sitting in the paedophile’s Manhattan mansion, appears to resemble the former Duke of York.

A second photograph shows the same man seated with a different young woman standing behind him with her arms wrapped around his neck. Like all women deemed to be victims of Epstein by the Department of Justice (DoJ), the two females have had their faces redacted by officials.

The images, which are small and low resolution, appear to have been taken inside the dining room of Epstein’s New York townhouse. They are among approximately 180,000 photographs released by the Department of Justice under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, visited Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse for a week-long stay in December 2010. The disgraced prince claimed in a 2019 BBC Newsnight interview that he made the trip because he was “too honourable” not to say goodbye to the convicted paedophile in person. Mountbatten-Windsor has been contacted for comment. He has always denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
