Day 1 of the NFL’s “legal tampering period” was a busy one for the New York Giants, who moved quickly to address several needs.
Among the highlights were agreements with tight end Isaiah Likely and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, signaling an aggressive start to free agency. But with multiple roster holes still to fill, general manager Joe Schoen and head coach John Harbaugh should remain active.
Here are eight players the Giants could (and probably should) consider targeting on Day 2.
It’s somewhat surprising that Romeo Doubs didn’t land a deal on Monday, but that could be good news for the Giants, who lost Wan’Dale Robinson to the Tennessee Titans (as expected). While the team did re-sign Isaiah Hodgins, that’s far from enough to fill a lackluster wide receiver room (outside of Malik Nabers, who is returning from injury). Doubs is a guy they’ve been connected to via many a rumor, and fans could see his name pop up on Tuesday.

Yes, the Giants agreed to terms with Tremaine Edmunds on Monday, but they still need a second inside linebacker to employ the sort of defense John Harbaugh wants. Micah McFadden remains a free agent and could be re-signed to a one-year deal, and the team obviously likes Sonny Styles. However, you can never bank on the NFL draft going a specific way, and there’s no guarantee the Giants would 1) have a chance to select Styles or 2) would choose Styles over another option. Chenal has a ton of upside and untapped potential.
OG Wyatt Teller
The Giants need at least one guard (potentially two) and missed out on Alijah Vera-Tucker, who is heading to New England despite very nearly agreeing to terms with the Giants. Luckily for Big Blue, Wyatt Teller, whom they’ve been rumored to have interest in, remains available and would immediately upgrade their offensive line.
WR Jauan Jennings
Why not two wide receivers? Again, the Giants need all the playmaking talent they can acquire to put quarterback Jaxson Dart in the best possible situation. Jauan Jennings is a big, physical outside receiver and is capable of winning 50-50 balls in the endzone. Perhaps more to Harbaugh’s liking? He’s a talented and willing blocker in the run game. Win-win.
CB Riq Woolen
Rig Woolen was solid over his early career before struggling in 2025, despite contributing to a Super Bowl-winning team. His fall-off is the result of a defensive change in Seattle, and that could factor into his free agency valuations. Still, the Giants are in desperate need of help at the cornerback position and need more than one reinforcement. If he could cut down on his penalties, Woolen could make a difference for the Giants’ defense.
CB Nahshon Wright
If the Giants don’t feel Woolen is a good defensive fit (or there becomes some sort of bidding war), they could consider Nahshon Wright instead (or also). At 6-foot-4, Wright has the ideal size to take on the NFC East’s big, strong receivers, and his five interceptions were the second-most in football a season ago. Another plus? Wright is good against the run — an area Harbaugh is focusing heavily on.
DT D.J. Reader
The Giants were said to be in the market for a top-tier run-stuffing defensive tackle, but A-listers are already off the board. At the age of 32, D.J. Reader is obviously in the twilight of his career, but he’s still a consistent and reliable run-stuffer who could not only pair with nose tackle Dexter Lawrence on early downs but could also spell him later in the game as needed.
LS Casey Kreiter
A long-time in-house solution to the long-snapper position, Casey Kreiter should be re-signed before an additional roster hole is created. Surprisingly, a deal didn’t get done before the start of free agency, but there’s no reason to let it linger. Kreiter has been consistently good and always reliable for the Giants’ special teams unit.
