An NYPD crossing guard guiding children across a Bronx intersection was punched by a stranger during an unprovoked attack, police said Tuesday.

The 46-year-old victim was at her post at the rain-swept corner of Gerard Ave. and E. 167th St. in Highbridge when a young man in a black North Face puffer jacket stormed up to her about 8:15 a.m. Thursday .

He punched her in the chest without saying a word before running off, cops said.

Medics treated the victim at the scene after she called 911. She took herself to a local hospital for further treatment a few hours later, cops said.

Police recovered surveillance footage of the suspect, his face partially obscured by his hood, near the scene.

Cops on Tuesday released the footage in the hopes someone recognizes him.

The suspect is described as Black and in his late teens or early 20s with a light mustache. He was wearing the black jacket and blue jeans and was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
