Where’s The Best Burger in New York? Nominate Now!

Have you ever taken a bite of a juicy burger and said to yourself “This is the best burger I’ve ever had”?

If you have, and you wanted to shout it off the rooftops this is a perfect opportunity for you. The New York Beef Council is taking your nominations for The Best Burger in New York.

The New York Beef Council is a non-profit organization “funded by the $1-per-head National Beef Checkoff Program” which aims to “increase beef demand, strengthen consumer trust, and promote the sale of beef and veal.”

The council is based out of Rome, New York and they’re looking for the best burger in the Empire State for the 10th annual competition.

New York Beef Council Looking For Best Burger in New York State

When it comes to voting for your favorite New York burger, there are a few rules.

According to the New York Beef Council’s official rules:

To qualify as a hamburger, the burger must be 100% beef, although other ingredients may be added to the patty

Spices, veggies, etc. can be added to the patty. Additionally “All burgers must be composed of a formed ground beef patty/patties served on a bun or other bread product (such as biscuits, focaccia, or tortillas).

The New York Beef Council goes on to explain:

Burgers may include any combination of condiments (such as ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard), sauces (such as barbeque or hot sauce), cheeses, and toppings (such as bacon, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce).

 

This is a strict competition, but we get it considering such an important title is on the line.

Last year, The Butcher’s Son Corning took home the award for their Ghost Burger. The winning burger was made with 2 grass-fed beef patties, candied jalapeños, jalapeño basil pickles, provolone cheese, and BBQ sauce.

The Ghost Burger received a “record-breaking score of 99.24%.”

Voting Details For Best NY Burger Competition

Nominations are being accepted through March 14th. The top 10 finalist will then be voted on by the public. Voting will begin March 18th and run through April 10th.

The winner of The Best New York Burger will then be announced on May 13th, 2026 on the steps of the State Capitol just in time for the May Beef Month celebration.

Director of Consumer Engagement at the New York Beef Council, Chrissy Claudio, said in a statement “This competition is a great way to celebrate the incredible burgers being served across New York,” adding:

“We encourage everyone — from consumers to cattle producers — to support their favorite local burger spot by submitting a nomination!”
