BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — An NYPD School Crossing Guard was attacked while on duty on Thursday morning in the Bronx, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Gerard Avenue and East 167th Street.

Police say an unidentified individual approached the 46-year-old victim and punched her in the chest before fleeing north on Gerard Avenue.

EMS treated the victim at the scene, but she was later taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

The NYPD released the following photos of the suspect.
