Entering App State’s game on Tuesday, Schafer leads all Sun Belt freshmen in home runs (eight) and RBIs (28). These marks also rank in the top 10 nationally among freshmen.
The infielder totaled a career-best six RBIs against Queens in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader thanks to her second career multi-homer game. She tallied two hits in all but one game and posted a .583/.571/1.583 slash line for the Mountaineer Classic.
Through 22 games this season, Schafer leads the team in walks (13) and ranks second on the team in home runs (eight), RBIs (28) and slugging percentage (.746). Schafer ranks third in the Sun Belt in RBIs, fourth in the league in home runs and 12th in the conference in OPS.
