Jane Slater of NFL Network reported on Tuesday that the noise surrounding a potential Patrick Queen trade to the Dallas Cowboys is a moot point.
“Seems like the Patrick Queen idea may have hit a snag. Was told no updates as of this hour and on him specifically ‘probably not going there,’” Slater wrote on X.
Slater revealed on Monday that the Cowboys were “looking at” trading for Queen. Chris Mueller of 93.7 The Fan also reported that the Cowboys had contacted the Steelers about Queen. The two sides were at least talking.

There has been a growing belief that the Steelers could part ways with Queen. The veteran linebacker hasn’t necessarily lived up to his three-year, $41 million deal that he signed with the Steelers in March of 2024.
Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Bart Scott had some choice words for Queen last month on ESPN’s Get Up.
Given Queen’s $17,193,334 cap hit, Scott think it’s a no-brainer that the Steelers should part ways.
“Patrick Queen, you can get outta that contract finally this year,” Scott said. “I think he was … he didn’t play very well at all.”
Scott isn’t the only one that thinks the Steelers should move on from Queen, however. Former Steelers James Harrison and Joe Haden also think Queen’s time in the Steel City should be over.
“Patrick Queen’s gotta go,” Haden said on the Deebo & Joe podcast. “Love him to death, but that’s a lot of money there and we can use that to get another asset at maybe the linebacker position.
Harrison replied, “With Queen, I’m with you,” Harrison said. “I think he done even took Steelers out of his bio. I think you can see the writing on the wall. They may have had a conversation already.”
