UTICA, N.Y. — The State of New York will honor its deployed service members with Day of the Deployed on Oct. 26.

A resolution from the State Assembly highlights the courage and sacrifice of service members and their families.

“Their strength reminds us every day of the true meaning of service and the importance of standing together in gratitude and support,” Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon said.

Buttenschon presented the resolution to the Utica Center for Development and Veterans Outreach Center on Friday for its support of veterans and active duty members in the Mohawk Valley.

The resolution notes, “As of 2012, all fifty states observe the National Day of the Deployed.”

Additionally, it mentions that “according to research from the Congressional Research Service, New York State had 3,724 service members serving in the Post-War Era,” and that “several hundred thousand members of the Armed Forces have served in over 200 countries across every region of the world.”
