STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Kingston High’s Hazel Lewis and Maeve Paul secured fifth-place medals as part of Section 9’s 3,400-meter intersectional relay team at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Orange Breeze Athletic Center on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7.
Cornwall’s Lydia Semo and Newburgh Free Academy’s Gabrielle Robles were the other members of the Section 9 relay team. The quartet finished with a time of 10 minutes, 27.57 seconds.
Lewis also ran in the 1,000-meter run and finished 32nd with a time of 3:13.15.
Rounding out the Tigers’ girls competitors was Charlotte McFarland, who finished in 27th place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:59.16.
Lewis, McFarland, and Paul will be joined by Kylee Dziomba on Friday, March 13, as the Tigers compete in the distance medley relay at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston.
Marcode Campbell, who ran on both days of the state meet, was the lone Kingston boy competing in the state indoor track and field meet.
On the first day on Friday, March 6, he took 27th place in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.72 seconds.
On the second day on Saturday, March 7, he finished 35th in the 300-meter dash with a time of 37.05 seconds.
Campbell will finish his indoor season on Saturday, March 14, at the Nike Indoor Nationals at The Armory in New York City. He will run in the 60-meter dash.
