A mom has filed a lawsuit against United Airlines, claiming her daughter was “permanently injured” by a hot water delivered by a crew member on a flight last spring to Tel Aviv, Israel.

The plaintiff, Mariam Landynski, and her family were traveling from Newark International Airport in April 2025 when the alleged incident happened, according to a complaint filed last month.

During the flight, the woman alleges a crew member handed a cup of “uncovered scalding water” to one of her five children. The cup then fell onto her then 4-year-old girl, which gave the child “serious burns and scarring.”

Landynski’s lawsuit claims her daughter has been “permanently injured” by the incident and has suffered “great pain, agony, and mental anguish.” She also claims “economic loss” associated with the medical care needed for her daughter.

Her complaint says the airline is “liable to pay full, and fair damages.”

NBC News reached out to Landynski’s lawyer but did not immediately hear back. A United Airlines spokesperson declined to comment.
