The quarterback situation and room for the Vikings is going to be a fluid one in the coming days. J.J. McCarthy seems to be coming back, barring something crazy, but outside of him, the room remains very fluid. They have rookie quarterback Max Brosmer, who is coming into his second year, but he showed less than ideal potential.

But what about backup quarterback Carson Wentz? Well, there is some insight into what may be next for him.

SNY’s Connor Hughes reported an update for the New York Jets following their trade for Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders. He reported, “Now that the Jets have their starter (Geno Smith), they will turn their attention to the No. 2 job. Carson Wentz is squarely in the mix there.”

The Jets are looking for a bridge option; they found that in Geno Smith, but Wentz would allow them to have a veteran backup. He played that role perfectly for the Vikings and even came in after injuries hit McCarthy and led the Vikings’ offense even better than it had been at that point.

He may not be a starter, but he is a quality backup that makes sense for teams to pursue.
