JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) — A woman was fatally struck by an apparent hit-and-run driver in Queens on Wednesday, according to officials.
Police say a 58-year-old woman was crossing from north to south on Jamaica Avenue in the Jamaica section, when she was struck by a dark-colored sedan that took off around 3 p.m.
She was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police are now searching for the driver, who not only hit the woman, but also struck her in the Jamaica Avenue Busway, which is an area only for buses and trucks.
The investigation is ongoing.
