Police are investigating after a disturbing video recorded in East Williamsburg appears to show a couple abusing a dog on a Brooklyn street.

The video, which has been shared widely online, appears to show a man and woman hitting the dog while yanking and swinging the animal by its chain. A witness who recorded the encounter said he was driving on Morgan Avenue while making an Uber Eats delivery when he saw the abuse and began filming.

The witness, who did not want to be identified on camera, then confronted the couple in the street and later called police.

“I felt disgusted, heartbroken, and I wanted to scoop that poor dog up and take it home,” said Caroline Plank, a volunteer with AMA Rescue.

Police said the incident happened around Feb. 28. Investigators said the couple was last seen walking on Morgan Avenue before turning onto Ingraham Street. No arrests have been made.

Plank urged anyone who recognizes the people in the video to come forward.

“Do the right thing and speak up,” Plank said. “Speak up for this poor animal who can’t speak out and ask for help itself.”

The ASPCA said it is aware of the situation and is assisting the NYPD with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
