The New York state Senate adds $34 million to the governor’s proposed pilot programs for child care for children under age three in cities outside of New York. 

The Assembly’s one-house budget proposes $100 million for after-school programs that service youth up to age 18, providing funding for an additional 40,000 slots.

Capital Tonight’s Susan Arbetter spoke with Assemblymember Michaelle Solages about the issue. She is hoping to see the creation of a fund to support the child care workforce.
