The New York Giants have officially released linebacker Chris Board and punter Jamie Gillan, terminating their vested veteran contracts as part of the team’s 2026 NFL free agency moves announced on Wednesday.

Board, who signed a two-year, $6 million deal with New York in 2025, primarily contributed on special teams during his brief tenure but was placed on injured reserve (IR) in September due to a chest injury.

The undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State had a solid career prior, accumulating 158 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three passes defensed across stints with the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, and New England Patriots before joining the Giants.

Gillan, known as the “Scottish Hammer,” had been with the Giants since 2022, following time with the Cleveland Browns. Over four seasons in New York, he punted 280 times with a 40.5-yard average and pinned 19 inside the 20-yard line.

Gillan’s release follows the team’s agreement to terms with former Ravens punter Jordan Stout, signaling an upgrade at the position amid efforts to bolster special teams.
