JAMAICA, Queens (PIX11) — The search for a driver who struck and killed a woman in Jamaica, Queens, on Wednesday afternoon is ongoing.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. as the 58-year-old woman crossed Jamaica Avenue in the middle of the block.

The car that hit her was heading west and did not stop. Police described it as a “dark colored sedan.”

The woman was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital. Police have yet to release her identity.

A man named Edwin, who was nearby at the time of the incident, said, “She got hit by a car and flew off. I saw a guy trying to help her with CPR.”

One of the woman’s shoes was left behind at the point where she was struck, her bag also nearby.

Investigators are reviewing nearby surveillance cameras.
