A 58-year-old woman was killed Wednesday afternoon after a driver hit her in a busy part of Queens and left the scene, police said Thursday.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. near a Social Security Administration building at 155-10 Jamaica Ave. in Jamaica, according to the NYPD. The woman was crossing the avenue when she was struck by a dark-colored sedan traveling west, officials said.
Police said she was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and pronounced dead.
The driver did not remain at the scene, and the NYPD has not yet made any arrests in the case, officials said.
Police did not immediately release the woman’s identity as they worked to notify her family.
The NYPD said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
