After a quiet start on Friday, unsettled weather returns to close out the week as wet snow develops. Some rain will mix in during the afternoon and evening, especially across lower elevations. Highs will be in the 30s and low 40s, with wind chills in the teens and 20s for much of the day.
Several inches of snow expected in the Tug Hill and parts of the Adirondacks between Friday and Saturday.
Saturday will be blustery and cold with lingering snow showers. Lingering snow showers will taper toward midday into the afternoon. Highs will be in the 20s and 30s, with wind chills in the teens and 20s.

1. Syracuse makes its choice for new athletic director
Syracuse University has made its choice for its next athletic director. The school announced Thursday that University of Toledo AD Bryan Blair will succeed John Wildhack, who is retiring July 1. Blair has been at Toledo since 2022. When he was hired, he was the youngest AD of any NCAA Division I-Football Bowl Subdivision school, according to Toledo.
2. Investigation finds violations in Salmon River district’s use of ‘timeout boxes’
An outside investigator hired by the district found that it violated state education regulations in multiple ways when it used the boxes to confine elementary school students. However, the investigator’s findings stated the district did not engage in child abuse or corporal punishment.

4. Bills agree to 3-year deal with defensive end Bradley Chubb
Chubb, 29, has 48 sacks in his career with the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins. He missed all of 2024 with a torn ACL, but bounced back in 2025 with 8.5 sacks in 17 games.
5. Child care services expanding at SUNY community colleges, Hochul says
Child care services at 11 State University of New York community colleges are being expanded to include evenings and weekends and create additional spots for infants and toddlers, Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office announced Thursday. The governor said the expansion will better align with the schedules of student parents enrolled in high-demand programs.
