Longtime New York City news anchor Ernie Anastos has died, according to a representative. He was 82 years old.
Anastos delivered the news in the tri-state for decades. He started at WABC in 1979 and would spend the next 11 years there. He would also work for WCBS and at WNYW Fox 5, where he finished his career.
A representative for Fox 5 confirmed via Anastos’ family his death Wednesday night.
Anastos won a number of journalism awards and received the prestigious Lifetime Emmy Award. A cause of death was not immediately shared.
