ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Venezuelan restaurant on Breckinridge Boulevard in Duluth failed a routine health inspection this week.
Flama’s in Gwinnett County scored 65 points and a “U” for unsatisfactory. The report says six containers of prepped chicken were at improper temperatures, three containers of condensed milk were at unsafe temperatures and vegetable soup on the stove was out of the temperature range.
“Everything is safe,” a manager said.
Management said its food thermometer wasn’t working properly. It replaced it with a new one and is now getting accurate readings.
During our visit, we noticed the restaurant had not posted its failing report on the wall. It put the current score up after we brought it to its attention, and it is waiting for a reinspection.
“I want a 100%,” a manager said.
Now to an update in Gwinnett County. Tony’s Sports Grill on Jimmy Carter Boulevard improved on a follow-up inspection this week, earning 92 points and an “A.”
Brooklyn Bagel and Deli on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs earned 100 on its last health inspection. That’s two in a row, and it is very deserving of our coveted Golden Spatula award. Everything on the menu here is $16 or less. That’s enough to bring you out.
It has been in this location for under six months, but it’s one of four spots around the metro and it’s a classic New York deli when you walk in. Its bagels are made fresh in-house every day and are featured in many of its lunch sandwiches. Plus, it has a nice grab-and-go with plenty to choose from.
Let’s talk about what you can get when you come in. You can get your morning started with a nice breakfast bagel. That’s the bacon, egg and cheese. They also have a nice tuna melt, Brooklyn sandwich, hot Reuben, California turkey avocado wrap, and sliced nova, which is salmon on a bagel. Boy, that’s good!
