Firefighters rushed Thursday evening to Saverne, the newly opened restaurant at the base of the The Spiral office skyscraper in Hudson Yards, after smoke began pouring from the building just before 8pm.

FDNY units arrived at W34th Street and Hudson Boulevard East, where smoke could be seen escaping between the first and second floors of the glass tower. Ladder Company 21 raised its bucket toward the building as firefighters moved inside the restaurant to track down the source of the fire.
