CARMEL – When it comes to teaching about the American Revolution, three educators from Carmel shine.

Robert Buccheri, Keith Reilly and Denise Santalis returned to Putnam County after presenting at the 88th Annual New York State Council for Social Studies Convention in Binghamton.

Together with Living History Education President Joe Ryan, the veteran Carmel teachers demonstrated “living history techniques” to educators from across New York State that will assist them in the use of techniques when educating today’s youth about the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution.

The conference also served as an ideal venue to talk about Putnam County’s special celebration on June 6 at the Putnam Veterans’ Memorial Park that will include a full-scale tactical demonstration of 18th century warfare. It will also include an 18th-century encampment and ‘appearances’ by George Washington, Enoch Crosby and Sybil Ludington.
