NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Belmont Bruins have a coaching search on their hands as Kansas State has announced Casey Alexander as the Wildcats’ next head coach.
Alexander was announced as K-State’s new coach on Friday morning, following seven seasons at Belmont.
The Belmont student-athlete turned coach notched 166 wins and four conference titles for the Bruins, along with the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
“I’m incredibly excited to join the team at K-State and can’t wait to get the journey started,” Alexander said. “K-State has such a rich tradition and a wildly passionate fan base and I’m grateful for the opportunity provided by Gene Taylor to be a part of it.”
Alexander agreed to a five-year contract with the Wildcats.
“On behalf of our athletic department and entire Belmont University community, I want to thank Casey for his leadership of our men’s basketball program. His 27 years of service to Belmont as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach have been characterized by winning on the court and sustained excellence in the classroom and community. Casey embodies the qualities of character, commitment, and selflessness we aspire for everyone who sets foot on our campus. We wish Casey, Sunni, and the entire Alexander family well in this exciting new chapter in their lives.”
Earlier in March, Alexander was named as a finalist for the Hugh Durham Coach of the Year Award.
