PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – The Clinton County Republican Committee chair says there are no prospective candidates for the 115th Assembly seat as of Friday.
Former New York State Police Major Brent Davison narrowly lost the election for the seat to Michael Cashman last year and has since announced he will run for Clinton County sheriff instead.
Malone Mayor Andrea Dumas, who sought the Republican nomination for the Assembly seat but was not supported by the party, said she has no interest in pursuing state office.
“I’ve put 10 years in learning the process to get to the state level, and now I am just realizing I should have been the first option,” Dumas said.
