The New York Giants are signing safety Elijah Campbell to a one-year deal, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The move adds depth to the secondary, with Campbell primarily valued for his special teams prowess rather than as a regular defensive contributor.
Campbell, who turns 31 during the 2026 season, stands at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa in 2018 after a college career that included stops at Iowa Western Community College and Northern Illinois.
Following a brief time with the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets, he spent the last five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, appearing in 68 games (three starts) and establishing himself as a reliable special teams performer. Over his career, he has accumulated 45 total tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery, with minimal defensive snaps in recent years—only 16 in 2025.
The Giants’ secondary underwent changes this offseason, including the loss of safety Dane Belton to the Jets. Campbell joins recently signed safeties Jason Pinnock (re-signed to a one-year deal the same day) and Ar’Darius Washington, providing veteran experience on special teams units where he has consistently contributed across all phases.
