Large police presence for training at NYS Capitol Saturday, no public safety threat

ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — A large police presence is expected at the New York State Capitol for a live training exercise, according to the NYSP.

The training drill will be held at the Capitol Building, Legislative Office Building, Robert Abrams Building, and Empire State Plaza in Albany.

Training will result in the closure of both buildings, parts of the Empire State Plaza concourse, and the Visitor Parking lot below the plaza.

While there is an increased police presence in the area, there is no threat to the public.

NYSP is asking people to avoid the area.
