On Saturday afternoon, the Brooklyn Nets are paying a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Pennsylvania.

The March 14 matchup includes some big names on the injury report, causing the game to lose some of its steam.

For the Nets, they are going to be without their All-Star-caliber sharpshooter, Michael Porter Jr., for the third time in five games.

Porter is on the injury report due to an ankle sprain. He was ruled inactive hours before the game was set to tip off.

Michael Porter Jr. (ankle) ruled out Saturday.

Saturday’s action will mark the second-straight absence for Porter. The veteran was off the court for the Nets’ March 12 matchup on the road against the Atlanta Hawks. In his absence, the Nets came up short with a 108-97 loss. That marked their second loss in a row.

The last time Porter stepped on the court for Brooklyn was during the March 10 matchup against the first-seeded Detroit Pistons. The results went as expected.

The Pistons dominated the Nets 138-100. Porter checked in for just 22 minutes. He shot 7-14 from the field, knocking down just one of his six shots from beyond the arc. Porter finished the game with 19 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

The 27-year-old is a former first-round pick. He was selected 14th overall in 2018 by the Denver Nuggets.

Through the first six seasons of his career, Porter appeared in 345 games for the Nuggets. He was a full-time starter by year three.

Over his time in Denver, Porter shot 50% from the field, knocking down 40% of his threes on 6.4 attempts per game. He produced 16.2 points per game, along with 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Porter was traded to the Nets back in July. He was sent to Brooklyn, along with a 2032 first-round pick, in exchange for Nets standout Cam Johnson.

Since joining the Nets, Porter’s usage shot up. Being a seasoned veteran on a young and rebuilding team, his production took a jump. Porter has been making 46% of his shots from the field. He is shooting threes at a 36% clip, taking 9.3 threes per game (career-high).

Porter is posting averages of 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on the Nets.

Heading into Saturday’s action, the Nets are 17-49 on the year. They have just two wins over their past 10 games. The Sixers and the Nets are set for a 1 PM ET tip/

With Porter out, he’ll eye a potential return on Monday, March 16, at home against the Portland Trail Blazers.
