On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the NAACP Bronx Branch, once again, participated in the annual NAACP NYS Conference Legislative Mobilization Day in Albany, NY.
This week, NAACP Bronx Branch leadership and members met with State Senator Robert Jackson, Assembly Members Emerita Torres, Landon Dais, and Amanda Septimo. The meetings were productive, and the NAACP Bronx Branch received additional insight into the legislative and policy efforts of each member. Every year, the NAACP Bronx Branch engages state legislators within its geographical areas to make them aware and monitor the progress of elected officials with respect to their support for priorities outlined by the NAACP. This year was the Branch’s largest delegation of members.
According to NAACP Bronx Branch President, Cleveland E. Beckett, Jr., “As we approach the 2026 election cycle, the NAACP Bronx Branch will continue to highlight its priorities, as well as inform and register voters, and prepare for Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) mobilization efforts. For the last three (3) election cycles, the Branch has targeted over 20,000 additional voters to further promote voter engagement, voting, and issue advocacy through various mobilization techniques and innovations.
The NAACP Bronx Branch and NAACP New York State Conference utilize the Legislative Day to inform and highlight policy and affected social concerns to both elected officials and staff. Through this process, branch leadership and members engage on several key issues, including bills and policies on civil rights, education, economic development, housing, and criminal justice concerns. Following the session, the NAACP Bronx Branch will further mobilize its members and key stakeholders to build both awareness, support, and capacity for these initiatives. “
