Once again, Hellen Obiri broke a course record in New York, this time at the 2026 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon where she clocked 1:06:33 to reset Sharon Lokedi’s 1:07:04 from 2025.

Keeping herself within the front during the early stages of the race, Obiri was in second for 10k with Agnes Ngetich and Sharon Lokedi before making a huge move going into 15k, opening up a 30-second lead on Ngetich and extending it to 39-seconds at the 20k and sealing the victory (and course record).

Kenya’s Sharon Lokedi finished second in 1:07:10, with Great Britain’s Megan Keith in third in 1:07:13. Emily Sisson was the top American with her sixth place finish in 1:09:06.

On the men’s side, Adriaan Wildschutt of South Africa won the race in 59:30, but in a bit of a more conservative fashion compared to Obiri, as he kept himself within the pack for the first 10k before making a decisive move somewhere in between and eventually taking the lead at 15k, eventually opening up an 11-second lead at 20k over USA’s Zouhair Talbi and keeping that lead all the way to the finish.

Zouhair Talbi was the Top-American in 59:41, with Gulveer Singh of India in third clocking 59:42.

On the side of one of the most anticipated debuts in the field the 2x Olympic Medalist, Grant Fisher, took to the roads and threw down one of the fastest half-marathon debuts ever by an American-born athlete, clocking the 13.1 mile distance in 1:00:53 to finish 14th overall and as the 5th American.

Looking at Fisher’s splits which were broken up every 5k until the final ~.7 miles, he had a bit of an ambitious start, passing the 5k split in 13:58 (~4:30 avg.) and 10k split in 27:57 (~4:31 mile pace). Eventually the pace caught up to him and gradually took its toll, as his third 5k split was roughly 14:30 (~4:40 avg.), fourth being 15:07 (~4:52 avg.), and the final segment of the race in 3:21 (~4:56 avg.).
