Hector Andres Giral Hernandez Mugshot for 42-year-old Hector Andres Giral Hernandez
MIAMI — Deputies working at the World Baseball Classic in Miami arrested a man from New York who they said was selling counterfeit tickets.
Authorities said they took 42-year-old Hector Andres Giral Hernandez into custody outside loanDepot park on Saturday.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the ballpark’s director of security alerted investigators about people trying to enter the game between Venezuela and Japan with fraudulent tickets at multiple entry points of the stadium.
After speaking with several victims, deputies said they were alerted to a man who they said sold them the fake tickets and wristbands, describing him as a Latin male wearing a black hat and a black and gray shirt.
One of the deputies said that while he was speaking to a victim, the subject was spotted and pointed out by that victim.
Authorities detained Giral Hernandez, and while asking for his ID, an arrest report states that he stated in Spanish, “I am from New York and only came to watch the game. My friend said some guy is selling tickets for $60-$70 and I don’t know what happened.”
Deputies said Giral Hernandez had a permanent address in Jamaica, Queens in New York City, according to his arrest form.
Giral Hernandez was arrested on a felony charge or organized scheme to defraud. He remained behind bars at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Sunday morning on an immigration hold.
