Jackson District Library brings free public Wi-Fi to downtown Brooklyn

  • March 16, 2026

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Jackson District Library is offering free public Wi-Fi to residents in Brooklyn through a partnership with the village.

The Wi-Fi will be accessible 24 hours a day to people in and around the Village Square in downtown Brooklyn as part of the library’s effort to expand digital access.

“Reliable digital access should extend beyond buildings and paywalls and into public spaces,” JDL Director Liz Breed said. “Adding free public WIFI in downtown Brooklyn creates a welcoming, connected environment in the heart of the village and supports our shared goal of expanding digital access.”

The initiative advances the library’s mission to inspire the community to discover, learn, and succeed through increased connectivity across Jackson County, Breed said, while ensuring residents have access to essential online resources.

Village leaders and library officials have worked together since late 2025 to bring the free Wi-Fi service to the community.
