CLINTON, S.C. – The Manhattan Jaspers women’s lacrosse team (1-7), despite five goals from Julia Kerr, fell in its non-conference contest to the Blue Hose of Presbyterian (3-6) by a final score of 13-12 on Sunday afternoon at Bailey Memorial Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Just shy of a minute into the action, Presbyterian got the scoring started in favor of the hosts.
Manhattan responded with back-to-back goals from Ella Brunette and Julia Kerr to take an early 2-1 edge.
Before the first came to a close, the Blue Hose grabbed the lead back with consecutive scores of their own to finish the first 10 minutes.
Lauren Maher knotted the score back up two separate times in the second frame at three and four apiece, off of feeds from Meghan Wendler and Brooke Leonard in that order.
The duo of Kerr and Brunette both tallied another on man-up chances, the latter tying the game once more at six.
15 seconds before the halftime break, Kerr found her third score to head into the locker room with a 7-6 advantage.
Each side spent the third quarter trading goals, as Kerr and Brunette each scored their fourth and third goal of the afternoon, the latter putting the Green and White up 9-7.
After Presbyterian tied the game at nine, Kerr scored once again for her fifth of the day with under four minutes on the clock in the third quarter.
Katelynn Naylor got the scoring underway in the final quarter, retaking the lead 11-10.
Maher became the third Jasper with a hat trick off the pass from Maya Metz with just over 11 minutes showing on the scoreboard, going back up 12-11.
Off a free position opportunity, the Blue Hose tied the game once more with less than seven minutes remaining.
Presbyterian controlled the offensive zone for the final 90 seconds, as Emily Currie fired home the game-winner for the home team with just 23 seconds to go, ending a heartbreaker for Manhattan.
